Why?
The first answer to this is that in order to sell your products and services, you need to have a public image that people can associate with you and enables your identity to be spread across the net.
Your brand needs to capture the essence of how you as a company work – it should be truly representative and most of all, it ought to give off a positive impression to those who have yet to purchase from you and encourage them to try you out.
There are many aspects that are taken into account when we look at creating a brand including typography, colour and image. We work by keywords – generally a minimum of three that capture the essence of your product / company and give us something to build on but still give us room to be creative
Example 1: Quattro
Keywords: Olive, Tomato, Stylish
Notes: As with designing anything, it’s important to think about the ways in which it can be used as well as the design as a whole and so this design is particularly striking as the “Q” character is distinctive enough to be used without the rest of the name, but for letters and suchlike it can remain as a single entity. Reaction to this design was positive with comments including:
When I see this I think of tomatoes, olives, bread… very suggestive.
Naturally the red “Q” will work well as a stand-alone graphic device, so it is like you have two logos in one.
Just the type of logo a restaurant needs.
although, as with any brand it is important to for the individual to form their own conclusions – but we feel that it successfully encapsulates the ideals that we were aiming to include.
Example 2: Juiced Lime Design
If I told you that, I’m afraid I’d have to kill you…
Or not given that it merely revolves around three main things:
The first is one that most people posess – an imagination.
The second is something that you and I (and many other people have access to) – a computer w/ broadband connection.
The third is something that the Chinese and Japanese picked up on quite early on – tea. I have to say that it has to be one of the greatest discoveries ever, without which I wouldn’t be able to get up in the morning and would never get any work done, or if I did, it would to totally half-arsed. Which thankfully (for you) it isn’t.
Me, Myself and I:
Essentially, Juiced Lime Design is the brand under which British student Will Scott operates.
The name originated after some sleepless nights (good ol’ insomnia) and many cups of tea and comes from the idea of being “fresh”
Will has 9 years of experience in coding HTML – although this has developed somewhat, as have the trends and standards set on the internet. Today the skillset stands at: (in order of proficiency)
- XHTML 1.1 and CSS
- PHP and MySQL
- Graphic / Ad Design
- Drinking cups of tea
- Speaking extensively in the 3rd Person
- XSLT, XPath, XML etc.
- Ruby on Rails
- Flash
However, jld is not afraid to employ the skils of designers more suited to a particular element – e.g. Jeremy Bowles – who does some wonderful flash & video work which was needed for a client.
